Fairly old project, but with lots of designs in reserve.

I like the second one … best for to day!

The third is interesting.

So is the next one!

The last one needs some colour in those circles … perhaps some applique.

Made up from mostly traditional half light, half dark Log Cabin blocks, With a few all dark and/or all light added .
I see four log cabins at a cross road!
The colours are rather pretty, as I usually prefer more masculine colours for Log Cabin
There are a lot of designs in this file waiting for their turn to be added to the blog, so I will try to open it up a little more regularly in the future.
read moreInteresting mix of pieces … could be even more interesting if there were more variety of colours.
The colours can also be rearranged several different ways within the blocks.
I like the second design.
A couple of slight modifications makes an interesting change. I like it too.
My favourite for today is number four!
That is all for today … more Log Cabin variations next week, mid week.
I always find it interesting to see all the designs up close.
read moreTime to retreat from the mad world for a few minutes to inspect some Log Cabin quilt designs.
I love the first two designs, but my favourite for today is not included in those two.
Not too sure what to think of the diagonal design of the third. one.
Number four is my favourite … a combination of rings and diamonds!
I also like the last one for this week’s retreat, but there will be more mid week, next week.
All designs use 36 identical blocks, and there are still heaps in the project file for later on.
Middle of the week again … feels like it was the middle of last week yesterday!
The second design is very interesting!
WOW!!!
My favourite for today!
I like the one above too!
I love the last one too!
I hope your preparations for Christmas are going well … just two weeks to go!
More Log Cabin designs mid week, next week, and the week after too!
read moreIt’s the middle of another week already, and I like the first Log Cabin design but worry that the weeks are getting shorter. Not too mention the years.
The second design is very interesting!
Another very interesting design.
The project file these come from has no new designs at the moment, but I might just find some time to play with some of the designs with the cross in the centre … I like all of these, but can see changes which just might make them better.
I think the second design is my favourite, but it will be interesting ...

Also interesting!
I am thinking that I should have saved this project file until next month … but I guess I can use it again then as the colours will suit the red, white and green theme I try to use during the lead up to Christmas Day.
Talking of Christmas, the design above could be printed out and glued to a pieced of cardboard and hung on a Christmas Tree!
I think the last one is my pick of the day, but I may change my mind after another coffee.
That is all for this week’s mid week ...
read moreThis project file uses just one block … the basic Log Cabin block, using a centre plus four rounds of strips.
The size of the centre square and width of the strips determines the size of the quilt. The designs in this collection would be a queen size quilt if the blocks start with cutting a 1.5 inch square and strips 1.5 inches wide, with the finished block size 9 inches.
I wonder how many different designs could be created by turning the blocks every which way?
Adding multiple colours to the mix would introduce many more variations!
With ...
read moreVery interesting collection of block designs … especially the pyramids with floral clouds!
Lovely!
Another lovely one.
I think the applique is a bit too much in the design above.
I like the last one … just enough applique, so the logs are an important part of the design, and there is room to show off some quilting.
read moreFilled a bin with green waste yesterday, but the back yard still looks lovely and green. Unfortunately most of the green is still weeds.
These blocks would be a bit more fiddly to make than the usual Log Cabin blocks, but the fabrics could be cut into strips and joined together and then cut into narrow strips to fir the blocks.
I think I should add more colours to the designs … one day when I have nothing to do and expect no interruptions! It probably wouldn’t work as when I don’t expect interruptions I get lots.
If we ...
read moreLooks a bit like a giant flower in the centre if it was a queen size quilt, even on a placemat it would be a fairly big flower! Could be fun playing with colour in this design.
This is the duplicate project file which became Fishing (Log) Cabin 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 … that’s enough! just before I deleted the double.
I like the design above … even if the fish are starting to go into hiding.
In the design above it has become more of a star burst!
It has now become a rather boring design ...
read moreIntroducing a project file with several variations of Log Cabin blocks along with a mixed bag of applique designs based on some of Australia’s native flora. It has taken about a month to sort out colours for the background Log Cabin blocks, but the colour of the flowers was easier as many of the varieties of flora native to this country might have different colour flowers, and most of them have red included in the family.
Some of the pieced backgrounds designs would look OK without the applique added, like the one above and below, but others, like the ...

Love the second design for today!
Love the third one too.
The one above is very interesting, but too many points for my taste.
The project file these designs come from has over 500 designs in it, and each time I open it I add more.
I think I might be addicted to designing quilts in Electric Quilt, but I am not looking for a cure to my addiction! I am going to add a few more designs as soon as I hit the schedule button on this post.
read moreThe plan for this evening’s meal is fish, so I had a play with some pieces of fish!
I love watching schools of fish swimming in all directions, and never seeming to run into each other.
I see these as tablecloths rather than quilts to go on beds … not too many of us would like fish laying on the bed for a day, let alone months or even years.
A single fish would be great on a placemat, and they would be ok on coasters too.
Must remember to get the fish out of the freezer about lunch time ...

Oops! Can you pick the mistake?
I like the design above.
Another impressive design.
I like all of these designs, and despite not liking blue, I like the colouring.
Perhaps it is the purple patches.
That is all the Log Cabin designs for this week, but there will be more mid week, next week.

The first design was very similar to the average Cornerstones quilt, but the second is very different!
I like the one above.
I like the one above too…. going to be hard to pick a favourite this week!
I think I can call the last Log Cabin variation a modern design.
That is all for this week’s Log Cabin retreat for quilters who like Log Cabin quilt designs.
More next week, mid week.

The one above is interesting!
Another interesting design.
I love the last one for today, and for this week’s Log Cabin retreat.

Different!
We went through Lochiel recently, and the sometimes pink lake was showing off it’s end of a dusty, dry summer colours … it just looked dry and dusty. Hopefully some rain will come soon and clean it up, and the pink will appear again.
I like the one above.
Interesting.
Love the last one for this week.

The second is not as striking as the first design, but interesting.

I like the last one … it looks like a layout designed by a group of quilters who are listening to dance music as they try to work out how to place the blocks.
It would be interesting to use these designs using Log Cabin blocks but using the same ...

Interesting design to start with, but I have to admit not one I would consider making, but there are plenty of choices. There are over 270 quilt designs in this project file, all using just two different blocks, and I don’t think I have included the more basic layouts!
The second design would look ok with regular Log Cabin blocks, and I like the Thick and Thin version too.
I like the one above!
This one uses the alternative colourway of the Thick and Thin Log Cabin block, using the same layout as the ...
